Dear collegues, ECWS members,
this year the exhibition and symposium of the ECWS will be held the 22nd time. Once again, one of Europe`s cities will be crowned with a title of watercolour capital. Once again we meet with watercolour, the most charming painting technique , where the combination of water and colour captures both the artist as well as the observer.
Watercolour has become a binding ground for thousands of artists, whose activities and joy of painting will be shared on the ECWS joint exhibition. Today European Confederation of Watercolour Societies joins watercolourists from 14 countries – association with this range of diverse artists of different cultural backgrounds enriches us all mutually on emotional and spiritual level. The starting points of the watercolourists` self-expressionvary, but all artists are bound by a personal approach and aspiration for balanced harmony.
As the President of Estonian Watercolour Society I am glad to welcome you in Estonia to celebrate another grand ECWS event. Haapsalu has a rich cultural background and we are honoured that for the very first time this big event will take place here. I wish it will be a memorable event for us, artists, the city of Haapsalu and to all our guests.
